The presentation of the international certificate of vaccination against
yellow fever, as a requirement for the visa for entrance at Brazil,
was defined by the Portaria no. 159, of Apr. 24th 1997, of the Health
Department as:
Obligator, for travelers coming from Angola, Benin, Bolivia,
Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Colombia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ecuador,
French Guiana, Gaban, Gambia, Gana, Guiné Bissau, Liberia,
Nigeria, Peru, Serra Leoa, Sudan, Venezuela and Zaire.
Recommended, for travelers that are going to the Distrito Federal
(including areas rounding Brasília city) and the following
northern, northeastern and center-western States of Brazil: Acre,
Amazonas, Amapá, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso,
Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima, and Tocantins.
Note: The vaccine against yellow fever takes 10 days to be effective.
